So I just got this in my e-mail… a Cupcake Challenge!!!

Follow Me Foodie’s inviting the general public,  the cupcake connoisseurs and lovers of Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, to join them in sampling and judging Vancouver’s Best Cupcake! Through collaboration with notable Foodies and Bloggers in Vancouver, as well as the general public, they’re presenting awards and notoriety for the business voted as baking the most favourable cupcake at the event.

Mix and mingle with yummy bakers and test a variety of cupcake flavours and recipes! With prizes awarded throughout the day, this is a tasty event that you will certainly not want to miss.

When: Sunday, June 20th 2010
Where: Yaletown Roundhouse Community and Recreation Centre
Time: 11:00am to 3:30pm
Admission: Free!

World Police & Fire Games!!!!

It involves the 2nd largest international sports event (behind only the Olympics).

That event is the – World Police and Fire Games


These games include Lawn Bowls, which are being held at the Stanley Park Bowls Club.

Here are the details for anyone who would like to catch some of the action:

Tuesday, August 4: Men’s and Women’s Pairs. Play for the men begins at 9:00am and for the women at 10:30am. Men’s Gold medal game will be at 6:45pm; the last game of the Women’s round robin will also be played at 6:45pm.

Wednesday, August 5: Mixed Pairs. Play begins at 9:00am and the Gold Medal Game will be played at 4:30pm.

Thursday, August 6: Open Fours. Play begins at 9:00am and the Gold Medal Game will be played at 4:30pm.

This will be an international quality event and Canada will be well represented by the likes of Jim Dipalo, George Cubiss and Cary Manns (who will be getting a great warm-up for the Canadian Men’s Championships in the 3rd week in August.

Everyone in the Lower Mainland is invited and encouraged to come and watch bowlers from around the world.
