Tetley “artificial” Infusion

August 9, 2009 in Drinks

Ok so as mentioned before, ever since working for a tea company, I am out to try everything tea that’s out there.  Tetley has decided to jump on the single serving wagon and created a liquid tea mix (away from the crystal stuff).

tetleyinfusion

Tetley Infusions is Canada’s healthy new way to flavour water, a first-of-its-kind, pure and natural liquid tea mix. It instantly dissolves in water for the refreshing taste and goodness of real-brewed, naturally sweetened Tetley tea with no artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners. Flavours include: Green Tea, Green Tea with Pomegranate, Classic Tea with Mediterranean Lemon and White Tea with Blueberry.” – Market Wire

I purchased a box of the basic Green tea flavoured packet the other day. A box of 6 packet 30ml packet is around $4-5 CAD.  Instruction says use 1 packet for 500ml bottle of water.

Well, I just tried it… I’d have to say there is NOTHING natural about it… it tastes SO nasty. It taste like…rotten plum. The only thing I figure made it nasty is their natural sweetener? Natural green tea does not taste like rotten plum!

I’ve tasted the Tetley Iced Tea Pomegranate flavor and it taste delicious…MAYBE…just maybe I’ll give these single serving flavoring another try…but with flavor.

So far…This Green Tea Tetley Infusion = 2 thumbs down!

Tazo Teas 8.8-oz. Loose leaf Earl Grey Lavender Loose Leaf Black Tea, Loose Leaf

Tazo Teas 8.8-oz. Loose leaf Earl Grey Lavender Loose Leaf Black Tea, Loose Leaf

Item Size: One 8.8-oz bag. Directions: Use one heaping teaspoon loose leaves per 8 ounces of water. Brews approximately 50 cups of tea. A traditional black tea scented with the essence of bergamot and lavender flowers. Description: Blend of black tea from the regions of Ceylon and Assam scented with Italian Bergamot oil. The Earl of Grey was Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1830-1834. Why and how this tea got his name is not known for sure. Some claim it was a special gift from the Chinese, while others insist it was an accidental discovery caused by a spill in a cargo ship. Whatever the case, we know that people love this unique taste combination. While most Earl Grey teas are produced using common teas of little character, Tazo recreates this traditional experience by blending only the finest teas from Sri Lanka and India. Teas from these regions provide a richer, fuller and aromatic experience while complimenting the citrus and floral character of the bergamot fruit. Bergamot is an exotic citrus fruit, the best of which comes from Southern Italy, and the essence is expelled by pressing the peel of the fruit. Its oil is also used in making perfume.

Buy some and give it a try! It’s definately yum!

Tea Tea and More Tea

July 2, 2009 in Drinks, Food

Summer = hot = ice = iced tea.

Been the fact that I’ve worked with a Tea Retail & Wholesale Company for 4-5 years, I keep my eye out for something new, tea wise.

I’ve always been impressed with MightyLeaf Tea.  Mighty’s came in 1996 where husband & wife team Gary Shinner and Jilly Portman founded their teahouse in San Fransisco, US. Their tea blending technique’s is very unique and combining the use of full leaf tea to give the tea sippers the best steep.

The coolest thing this duo came up with? Their Silken Tea Pouches. You know how the tea bags you buy in store are of crushed tea…. well the quality and the essential vitamins you get from the tea gets…well….loss. What happens is that a lot of the companies out there use “flavoring” to give the tea their “berry” flavor or what not. Well MightyLeaf Tea’s Silken Tea Pouches allows them to package their loose leaf tea that they blended with real fruit, in a hand-crafted, biodegradable pouches! It’s definitely a different tea drinking experience.

Oh they’ve got so many flavors… you’ll have to visit their site to check out. Here are a few “category” that they carry… classic black, flavored black, green, flavored green, herb & fruit, organic, and white.
