My friends made these last year…they were soooo yummy…very fitting too!
And you can totally turn this into edible ornaments for your tree
Ingredients
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp. peppermint extract
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
Red food coloring
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar. Add the egg and beat well. Stir in the peppermint and vanilla extracts. Gradually mix in the flour.
Divide the dough in half. Color one half with red food coloring and leave the other half plain. Roll out a tablespoon of red dough and a tablespoon of plain until they are each 6 to 8 inches long. Twist them into a candy cane, pinching the ends. Repeat.
Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 8 to 10 minutes, or until set but not brown.
Makes about 25.
Loved Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs! I didn’t know it was based on a book until I saw the movie! According to Wikipedia:
The book is about two children who listen to their Grandpa Henry tell the story of the town of Chewandswallow, where the weather comes three times a day, at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is always food and beverages. The rain is juice and soup, the snow is mashed potatoes, and the wind brings hamburgers. Because of this phenomenon, there are no grocery stores or restaurants. However, when floods and storms of giant food come, the population is forced to leave Chewandswallow on boats made of bread, and adapt to their new lives in our world where the sky doesn’t feed you.
Well I can tell you that the movie adaptation is a little different.
See for yourself! I’d give it 4 out of 5 yes…probably because it’s all about FOOD!
Here’s a preview of it…if you haven’t seen it already.
