Sean Rumsey – of London UK

November 9, 2011 in Chewy's Thoughts, Entertainment, Music

You have to check Sean’s covers out.. He’s got some original stuff as well if you go to his youtube page. . . I actually found him looking up Adele’s stuff…which I have to say he covers her amazingly!

So who is Sean Rumsey?

Well…Sean Rumsey is a Singer, Songwriter and Producer with an unconventional start when he was adopted into a large family at the age of two. Self-taught on his new Mum’s second-hand piano as a young child, making music and performing was a constant and supporting feature of Sean’s early life.

College years allowed him to indulge his passion further; it was during this time that he also started performing on the local club circuit and began to enter (and win) talent contests. He decided to take his vocal talent to a national audience at the X Factor auditions in London, 2007. Fortune favours the brave and he eased through the rounds and beat over a quarter of a million applicants to the live finals as part of the band ‘Futurproof’, formed and mentored by music mogul Simon Cowell.

Finally realising his childhood dream of performing in front of a national audience, the X Factor experience on TV and the ensuing 2008 UK arena tour (which took in 27 dates and venues such as the O2 Arena), gave Sean the taste of great things to come…

Anyway check out some of his tracks on Cover Mix Tape Vol. 1 right here!

WOTD – YEN

June 28, 2010 in Movies

Did you know that the word yen have multiple meanings?

The word Yen is most commonly known for the basic unit of money in Japan, the currency.

But there are also other meanings for yen.

noun: a yearning for something or to do something
verb: have a desire for something or someone who is not present

So now you know. Apparently I’m given the word because I’m constantly yenning for snacks :)

WOTD – Velodrome

June 25, 2010 in Movies

Sticking to the bike theme, today’s word given to me by my boss is …. Velodrome….the extra challenge is to figure out where the closest Velodrome is to our work location.

So Velodrome is an arena for track cycling. Thanks to Wikipedia… here’s a bit more info on the track… A modern velodrome would feature steeply banked oval tracks with approximately 2 x 180 degree circular bends with 2 straight tracks.

Burnaby Velodrome

So, the closest Velodrome to where our company is located:

Burnaby Velodrome Club
Harry Jerome Sports Centre
7564 Barnet Highway
Burnaby, British Columbia
V5A 1E7

It’s pretty nice with a volleyball court in the middle!

If you can….watch it in 3D!!!

Loved Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs! I didn’t know it was based on a book until I saw the movie! According to Wikipedia:

The book is about two children who listen to their Grandpa Henry tell the story of the town of Chewandswallow, where the weather comes three times a day, at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is always food and beverages. The rain is juice and soup, the snow is mashed potatoes, and the wind brings hamburgers. Because of this phenomenon, there are no grocery stores or restaurants. However, when floods and storms of giant food come, the population is forced to leave Chewandswallow on boats made of bread, and adapt to their new lives in our world where the sky doesn’t feed you.

Well I can tell you that the movie adaptation is a little different.

See for yourself! I’d give it 4 out of 5 :) yes…probably because it’s all about FOOD!

Here’s a preview of it…if you haven’t seen it already.
