Strawberry Macarons with Chocolate Frosting
I used the same recipe I used for the Green Tea Macarons but here’s the ingredient tweak to make the shells strawberry flavored.
1 1/4 cup + 1 teaspoon confectioners’ sugar
¾ cup almond meal
6 Tablespoons fresh egg whites (that’s equivalent to egg whites from 3 large eggs – separated from the yolk of course)
Pinch of Salt
¼ cup of granulated sugar
2-3 tablespoon of pulverized freeze dried strawberries. (A friend of mine picked up these freeze dried strawberries slices from Trader’s Joe and bought them back up to Canada for me)
1 tooth pick dip of pink gel food colouring
The chocolate frosting is just any chocolate frosting you can find…
I’ve included a picture of what all the dried ingredients blended together would look like.
The final macarons are taken from a different batch where I decorated it at the start of the drying process with some gold coloured sprinkles. If you want to add sprinkles, add it before the 20 min drying process.
